Type Locality

Khor. (Wildekamp in 'A World of Killies' refers to this as 'in a khor'.

Distribution

Cameroon, Nigeria, Chad & Sudan. Large distribution area but found in isolated pockets with danger of extinction in some areas.

Habitat

Found in pools, streams & swampy areas along with drainage ditches. Sympatric sp. M.pffafi.

Distinguishing Characteristics Reported to have a light blue/green reflection in the upper part of the iris (Wildekamp 'A World of Killies').

Boulenger gives the following collectors / locations in his 1915 Catalogue.

1-5. (Types) collected at Khor on Sobat River by H.H.King.

Collected in the Keleruma River, 14 km southwest of Maiduguri by Wildekamp 1988.
