Type Locality

Stream draining into the Niete River, Lobe system, southeast of Kribi.

Distribution

Coastal plain from the Sanaga River estuary to Port Gentil.

Habitat

Freshwater habitats in small rivers & streams with moderate flow. Usually found in schools near vegetation at water edges. Sympatric species Procatopus sp., Plataplochilus sp.

Distinguishing Characteristics Has 3 horizontal lines of iridescant blue as opposed to 2 in P.luxophthalmus.
