Aphyosemion 'Korup 01
History

A fish called Aphyosemion 'Korup 01' was caught in the Korup National Park in 1992 by André Kamden Toham close to the Ndian River. Wildekamp 1995 regarded it as being close to ndianus & called it Fundulopanchax sp.aff.ndianus.This fish had a 'stripey' appearance with 2 red lines horizontally through the body & 2 horizontal lines on the anal fin, one at the margin, the other in the centre of the fin. The dorsal fin also had 2 horizontal lines, one on the outer margin, the other close to the body.
The collector reported the meristics of this fish as D = 16-17, A = 16-17, D/A = +4.
The 1992 collection was preserved but I understand the colouration faded badly to a state they were not recognisable as the fish when preserved.
In 2001 3 specimens were collected from Korup National Park. These were reported to reach 8-9 cms in length.

A progress report in November 2003 would suggest that those in the AKA are in limited numbers & may be down to one pair & a few males. Peat is in storage.
The DKG would appear to have them in certain breeders tanks so it is hoped they will be distributed in the spring.
At this time it is understood that a well known killie man/men? is looking at a description.

Breeding
Reportedly not easy to breed. The original wild fish from 2001 were given to a competent breeder who managed to raise some fish. A dry storage period of 8 weeks was reported but this time was cut down to 4 weeks by putting eggs on damp/wet peat. After this period cool, fresh water was added.
