Meristics

D = 11-13, A = 16-18, D/A = +8-10, ll = 29-30 (+2-4) (Berkenkamp & Etzel 1982).

Type Locality

3 km south of Wadalna near Belefuanai on the road from Gbaruka to Zorzor, central Liberia.

Distribution

Currently only known from the type locality.

Habitat

The type locality was a narrow creek in dense wood with brown water which was 2 metres wide. The fish were shy & found mainly under overhanging vegetation near the banks in deep shadow. The fish were reportedly very shy.
They were found with Archyaphyosemion viride.

Distinguishing Characteristics Generally darker in colouration than others of the group. The un-paired fins have a deep orange colouration.

History

Collected by Dr.V.Etzel on the 5th July 1978 3 km south of Wadalna at Belefuanai on the road from Gbaruka to Zorzor, central Liberia.

Breeding Notes

Basically similar to E.fasciolatus although I found them less prolific.
