Currently only known from preserved material.
Type Locality

Minkidimbua River. Described from several tributaries in the middle Lulua River. Near the village of village Kakunku. This is a tributary of the Kasaï River, south of Kananga (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kasaï Occidental Province).

Distribution

E.atratus is the most south eastern representative of the genus currently known.

Distinguishing Characteristics
Colour/Pattern Variability A dark grey to black on body & fins. Dorsal fin is positioned further back than others in the genus.
Small fish of both sexes show a unique pattern of 3 fine oblique dark bars just behind the pectoral fin.
