Type Locality

Bridge on the Niengé River.

Distribution

Niengé & Alowé Rivers which flow eventually into the Ogooué River. Replaced to the northwest by A.aurantiacum.

Habitat

Discovered in a small fast flowing river 3-5 metres wide near tributaries. Live in between tree roots & under dead leaves. Bottom sandy, no aquatic vegetation. Fish were found near tributariy streams but not in them.
Sympatric species - Undescribed Aphyosemion & Plataplochilus sp.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Lower part of body being bright orange/red. Area between eyes & tip of snout also bright orange/red.

Collected on 4th July 2014 by Laurent Chirio. He also collected on the upper Alowé River 4th March 2016.

Breeding Notes

Clean, clear water is required.
