Type Locality

Okoyo River, Northern Gabon.

Distribution

Okoyo and Pembé drainages. First description paper states they have only been collected in 2 locations.
Replaced to the north by A.barakoniense & east by A.aurantiacum.

Habitat

Small rivers (not found in middle areas) & muddy streams less than 1 metre wide.
Sympatric species - an unknown Aphyosemion, two unknown Epiplatys & a species of Plataplochilus.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Anal fin - from body a clear band followed by a thick red/orange band. This is followed by another clear band. Submarginal dark band with a thin yellow outer margin. Red/orange tip to dorsal fin which extends down the centre of this fin.
An alpha-shaped mark in males on pre- and postopercular region.

Breeding Notes

Clean, clear water is required.

Diameter of Egg 1·3 mm.
