After the area of discovery - Pama village on the Pama River.

Size

4·5 cm TL, 3cm SL (males), 3·5 - 4 cm (females).

Meristics

D=10-13, A=12-15, D/A 0; +3, ll=25-28.

Karyotype

2n = 35 (males), 2n = 36 (females).

Type Locality

Pama, a village with a tributary draining into the Nyong River, Cameroon.

Distribution

This sp. is found between the distribution areas for A.(C).loennbergi & A.(C).koungueense. 1·6 km to the east of Pama.

Habitat

Collected in a small forest stream approx 3 metres wide & ·4 metres deep, mud / sand bottom.
Sympatric sp - A.edeanum, E.infrafasciatus & Procatopus similis.

Distinguishing Characteristics Orange in unpaired fins, anal fin without spots, orange throat, purple to blue/grey in flanks. Also has different karyotype to others in this sub genus.
Colour/Pattern Variability Probably limited given the small area of known distribution.
History

First discovered by Agnese, Brummet and Kornobis on the 22nd January 2007 in an area east of Pablo on the road to Bela in the direction of Kribi (location ABK 07/163).

Oliver Legros received the ABK 07/163 population as 5 large females & 1 small male. No young resulted from these fish. He received more fish, this time from the collection ADK 10/323 & succeeded in spawning them.

Breeding Notes Oliver Legros found first sexual differentiation at 3·5 months & reproduction at 5 months. Considered fairly easy to breed.
