GEMLB 02 / 1 Collected 20/02/02 at 18:00 hours. Coordinates: 1º 45.635N 010º 49.441E The locality was a stream that crossed the highway between the locations of Nguba II and Nguba I. Non killie sp. found were Ctenopoma nanum, Neolebias ansorgii. The biotope was a semidry tributary stream of the Ecucu. This was the same location that GEML 2000/16 was found. The place where 14 months before Fundulopanchax avichang was found. This biotope was completely dry & we could not find this sp on this occasion. On the other side of the highway, very cloudy water with reddish muddy bottom (argillaceous), the Neolebias ansorgii were of a green color (very intense olive). Aquatic plants included Nuphar & Sagittaria.
GEMLB 02 / 2 Collected 21/02/02 at 13:45 hours. Coordinates: 01º 43.77'N : 010º 17.58'E. Locality: Aseng river after the population of Bisum (not sure what this means). Killies observer were Aphyosemion aff. maculatum. Other sp. observed Parauchenoglanis sp. (collected), Amphillius longirostris. The river appears to have a little organic contamination as this place was used by local people to wash. Abundant tadpoles of several species (at least 3). pH 5,6, Temp. 23.5ºC. By the highway towards the following location we found 2 vipers of Gabon (Bitis gabonica).
GEMLB 02 / 3 Collected 21/02/02 at 19:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 06.89'N 010º 35.33'E Locality: stream near the population of Ayene. Aphyosemion mimbon, Aphyosemion herzogi. The biotope was a shallow rainforest stream. The bottom of this stream was covered with leaves.
GEMLB 02 / 4 Collected 22/02/02 at 08:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 03.85'N 010º 44.13'E Locality: Soha river in the area of Soha. Aphyosemion mimbon, Aphyosemion herzogi, Episemion callipteron. Characins, Chromidotilapia sp., Mormyridae: Polymirus kingsleyae, Mastacembelidae: Brevicauda caecomastacembelus, Cyprinidae, Ctenopoma nanum, Amphillius longirostris, Phractura sp., large shrimps in excess 0f 20 cm similar to Macrobranchium. Aquatic plant mainly Aponogeton and Anubias. pH 6,5, Temp. 22ºC, Conductivity: 13µS.
GEMLB 02 / 5 Collected 22/02/02 at 11:40 hours. Coordinates: 01º 03.01'N 010º 42.78'E Locality: Stream in the area of San Carlos. Aphyosemion mimbon, Ctenopoma nanum, Cyprinidae. The Aphyosemion mimbon jumped out of the water as soon as we put the net in. Muddy bottom.
GEMLB 02 / 6 Collected 22/02/02 at 12:30 hours. Coordinates: 01º 02.02'N 010º 40.58'E Locality: Pools near the river at Acurenam. Aphyosemion mimbon, Barbus sp. This locality was in front of a military post.
GEMLB 02 / 7 Collected 22/02/02 at 15:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 02.03'N 010º 40.54'E Locality: Atactok stream near Bandili. Aphyosemion mimbon, Aphyosemion herzogi, Ctenopoma nanum. Collected 500 meters from the highway, between a small group of houses. In order to get to the collection site a hill with a very slippery slope had to be negotiated. Stream with bottom comprising of mud & sand. Water plants included Aponogeton.
GEMLB 02 / 8 Collected 22/02/02 at 17:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 02.55'N 010º 38.28'E Locality: Stream that crosses the highway near Okung. Aphyosemion mimbon, Aphyosemion herzogi, Ctenopoma nanum, Barbus sp. Collected about 3 km from Acurenam. Mud bottom. Water plants included Aponogeton.
GEMLB 02 / 9 Collected 23/02/02 at 10:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 18.12'N 010º 46.71'E Locality: Mbini stream near Mbam. Aphyosemion mimbon, Aphyosemion herzogi, Mormyridae, Polymirus kingsleyae, Hepsetus odoe. Mud bottom, water contaminated by washing of Yucca. Water plants predominately Aponogeton, Anubias. Presence of tadpoles, at least three species.
GEMLB 02 / 10 Collected 23/02/02 at 11:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 18.69'N 010º 51.80'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway. Aphyosemion mimbon, Chromidotilapia sp., Characiformes, Barbus. Water plants predominately Aponogeton.
GEMLB 02 / 11 Collected 23/02/02 at 12:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 17.47'N 010º 55.47'E Locality: Nvemiere stream near Aconibe. Aphyosemion cameronense (very grey), Barbus. Relatively wide river (about 4 meters). Great crabs “redondos”, also extended, Observed positioning of traps for fish and crabs (baskets) by women and children. Water plants predominateley Aponogeton.
GEMLB 02 / 12 Collected 23/02/02 at 13:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 18.26'N 010º 57.49'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway after passing Aconibe. Aphyosemion cameronense, Barbus. pH 5,5, Temp. 23.5ºC. mud bottom.
GEMLB 02 / 13 Collected 23/02 at 12:50 hours. Coordinates: 01º 19.57'N 011º 00.18'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway. Aphyosemion cameronense, Barbus. Water coloured like coffee.
GEMLB 02 / 14 Collected 23/02/02 at 14:25 hours. Coordinates: 01º 19.26'N 011º 01.50'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway before Acamas. Aphyosemion cameronense, Mormyridae, Polymirus kingsleyae, Chromidotilapia sp. Bottom of mud and sand.
GEMLB 02 / 15 Collected 23/02/02 at 14:25 hours. Coordinates: 01º 20.07'N 011º 08.38'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway between Bisobinam and Akoasi. Episemion callipteron, Aphyosemion cameronense, Aphyosemion herzogi, Chromidotilapia sp. This was the same location as GEMHS 00/15. Mud bottom,. pH 6,2, Temp.: 23.2ºC; Conductivity 10µS. Episemion callipteron is found here in a channel that runs towards the north (tributary Wele river) not towards the south (Gabon).

Collected 24/02/02 at 08:30 hours. Coordinates: 01º 48.51'N 011º 23.46'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway before Anugon. Aphyosemion cameronense ( single male). Stream with very little fauna, contains little in the way of invertebrates. This stream runs in the direction of Gabon.

Collected 24/02/02 at 09:10 hours. Coordinates: 01º 49.98'N 011º 23.26'E Locality: Minchimín stream near Mimbomán. Aphyosemion cameronense, Barbus. River basin of the Kie (Towards Gabon). Bottom of mud, Strange little icthyofauna

GEMLB 02 / 18 Collected 24/02/02 at 11:15 hours. Coordinates: 01º 55.57'N 011º 15.77'E Locality: Artificial holes by sand extraction between Mebaha and Milang. Aphyosemion batesii (single male found in a sand hole), Xenopus (frog) found in other sand holes. This is the same locality as GEMHS 2000/21. Sand bottom. Near the Bolo river.

Collected 24/02/02 at 13:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 58.35N 011º 19.6Ë Locality: Artificial holes by sand extraction between Mocomo and Alén (more near this last one). Ctenopoma nanum, Characins, Clarias sp. Xenopus. Sand bottom with fallen leaves.

Collected 24/02/02 at 13:40 hours. Coordinates: 01º 58.38'N 011º 19.67'E Locality: Stream about 50 meters before the previous location, between Mocomo and Alén (more near this last one). Hemichromis fasciatus (3 young). Water plants predominately Aponogeton. Muddy bottom.

Collected 24/02/02 at 15:00 hours. Coordinates: 02º 04.90'N 011º 18.79'E Locality: Artificial holes by sand extraction near Miboman. Aphyosemion cameronense, Aphyosemion herzogi, Barbus. The coordinates correspond to the main highway from where it divides into a footpath for the channel of the stream where the holes are found about 300 meters in. Many tadpoles (small and black).

Collected 24/02/02 at 16:30 hours. Coordinates: 01º N 011º. Locality: river near Noambee (near Ebibeyín). Hemichromis fasciatus (5 young), Characins. Sand bottom. Water plants predominately Aponogeton. Water was the colour of coffee. This river goes towards the west & is a tributary of the Memi river.

Collected 25/02/02 at 07:30 hours. Coordinates: 02º 10.12'N 011º 14.79'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway 12 km after Ebibeyín. Aplocheilichthys sp (cameronense), Aphyosemion cameronense, Aphyosemion halleri, Barbus. This location corresponds to GEMHS 2000/22. This river heads towards Cameroon All the Aplocheilichthys were young & were collected in backwaters of not more than 10 cm deep with a sandy bottom. Water plants predominately Aponogeton and Anubias.

GEMLB 02 / 24 Collected 25/02/02 at 10:45 hours. Coordinates: 02º 06.46'N 011º 03.22'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway near Mikien. Aphyosemion cameronense, Aphyosemion herzogi (3 specimens).Water plants predominateley Anubias. Mud bottom. Presence of crabs.
GEMLB 02 / 25 Collected 25/02/02 at 13:00 hours. Coordinates: 02º 02.53'N 011º 00.89'E Locality: Stream that crossed the highway near Bidodo. Aphyosemion cameronense, Aphyosemion herzogi, Ctenopoma nanum. Strong current in this section. Tributary of the Woro. Stone bottom and abundant sand icthyofauna (?). Presence of crabs. Ten times more cameronense were collected than herzogi.

Collected 26/02/02 at 10:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 54.79'N 009º 52.62'E Locality: Stream that crossed the track towards Utonde. A short cut was taken from highway at Dressing to Mongomo, a side track between Acoba and Adjap to the left. Cromaphyosemion sp, Aphyosemion ahli, Epiplatys sexfasciatus (infrafasciatus). Shallow water. Bottom mud. Presence of crabs.

GEMLB 02 / 27 Collected 26/02/02 at 11:00 hours. Coordinates: 01º 55.05'N 009º 49.57'E Locality: Ue river near Utonde. Aplocheilychthys spilauchen, Heddle sp., Periophtalmus barbarus. Atmosphere of manglar (Avicennia), zone strongly influenced by the tide. Location shortly before the mouth of the Ue river in the Utonde river. Aplocheilichthys spilauchen (young)at the edges were observed to be fleeing from predators. Many crabs in the sand. We rented a car. Given the high mortality of the fish during transport, we returned on the following day.
GEMLB 02 / 28 Collected 26/02/02 at 11:30 hours. Coordinates: 01º 55.02'N 009º 49.72'E Locality: Stream draining into the river Ue. Aplocheilichthys macrophtalmus scheeli, Aplocheilichthys spilauchen, Mugilidae, Periophtalmus barbarus and others, Lutjanus goroensis, Aplocheilichthys macrophtalmus scheeli was very weak to the transport. Aplocheilichthys spilauchen had blue dominant coloration, we collected a single spectacular male. Atmosphere of manglar. zone strongly influenced by the tide. Many crabs. pH 6,1, Conductivity outside (> 1666 µS). Given the high mortality of the fish during the transport, we returned on the following day.

Collected 27/02/02 at 13:15 hours. Coordinates: 01º 46.48'N 009º 47.52'E Locality: Pool next to the highway south of Dressing on the Ecucu river before Movoho. Epiplatys grahami, Aphyosemion ahli, Hemichromis fasciatus (2 collected which were very colorful of about 13 cm), Mud Bottom, some observed baskets. Very cloudy water (probably due to rains on the previous days). Water plants predominately Nuphar.

Collected 27/02/02 at 14:45 hours. Coordinates: 01º 46.71'N 009º 48.15'E Locality: Pool near Movoho. Aphyosemion ahli (this collection had a very yellow tail), Neolebias ansorgii.
This was the same location as GEMLB 2002/31. This location on the road between Movoho and Ayago before the Ecucu river. Water plants predominately Nuphar.

GEMLB 02 / 32 Collected 27/02 at 15:30 hours. Coordinates: 01º 47.75'N 009º 52.60'E Locality: Stream which crossed the highway near the Hydroelectric Power station of Bilike. Cromaphyosemion sp, Aphyosemion ahli, Platapochilus ngaensis, Epiplatys sexfasciatus, Barbus, Mormyridae, Amphilius longirostris. Sand bottom with some cement pipes.
