Lake Ejagham ??? (Tyrone Genade's Fish) - This one was distributed under lacustris Lake or Lac Ejagham. I consider this to be Nsukka or a population in Fp.gardneri gardneri. This was sourced from a breeder in France who bought the eggs off Aquabid. He asked this breeder where he got them from & he replied they were bought at the 2009 KCF convention. I could not find this on the show lists but they were on at the 2012 show. It appears that R.Lopez from the KCF put these into the show. See show results list (linked to Stofmania).
It is quite different from all other photos I have seen of this species from the lake & it's outlet. Mainly, this is the only photo which does not have a black or dark outer margin in the anal fin. Also, this fin has numerous red spots. Outer margins to the dorsal & caudal are verging on pale yellow where all others I have seen are pale blue.
Tyrone wrote an article in BKA newsletter No.540, Jan/Feb 2011. Eggs he obtained were wet after 6 weeks. At 6-8 weeks old the young fish were spawning in water of 22-24°C. Eggs were laid in mops & hatched in water of 24°C. Peat was collected from the tank & at least 40 eggs were observed. After 3 weeks 1 egg eyed up. After 12 weeks at 22-23°C all eggs had eyed up & the peat was wet with cool tap water, yielding 55 fry.
Fry will take newly hatched brine shrimp as a first food.
