 R.P.King collected at Ugep in Jan - Mar 1988 but not known if gardneri was collected.
Collected by Radda.
Habitat
 Ugep is situated in the Cross River drainage midway between Calabar in the south & Enugu in the north.

This drawing is a trace of a photo labelled 'Ugep' which is copyrighted but shows the characteristic 'mamfense' anal fin, being pale blue with red spots as opposed to lines in most other subspecies.
Traits

In the body this specimen is similar to the drawing below but note the anal fin with submarginal band & the dorsal to a lesser extent. This specimen is yellow phase but the drawing below is probably a blue phase which has paled to a white.
This population is known to be highly variable.
